  • What should I bring?

Below are some tips to help you get the most out of your Brazos River trip!

    1. Arrive early! You must be checked in a minimum of 30 minutes before your scheduled departure time. We ask that you please arrive at least 45 - 60 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time. This gives you time to sign in, park, change clothes, apply sunscreen and get your gear ready for the bus ride upriver.
    2. Stay hydrated! REMEMBER, NO GLASS BOTTLES ALLOWED ON THE RIVER. YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE SHUTTLE BUS WITH GLASS CONTAINERS IN YOUR COOLER! Throw some water and/or sports beverages in your cooler along with any other refreshments or snacks you are bringing to enjoy on the river. Float times can be as long as 5 hours or more and hydration is importnat to keep you safe on the river! Make sure your refreshments are in plastic bottles or cans.
    3. Protect yourself from the elements! We recommend that everyone wear a sturdy water shoe to protect your feet from sharp rocks, possible fishhooks, etc. on the bottom of the river. Generally, sandals made for river wear or even tennis shoes are better than flip flops or slide on sandals. Also, a wide brimmed hat and sunscreen is important to protect yourself from sunburn. There is minimal shade on the river, and you can easily get sunburned even on overcast days.
    4. Protect your phone! If you plan to take your phone with you on the river, we recommend a floatable waterproof phone pouch to protect your phone. Ziploc bags may keep it dry but it doesn't help if it sinks to the bottom of the river if you drop it or it falls out of your boat or tube. We do have tehese available or purchase in our camp store.
    5. Pack out what you take in! Please do not leave any trast, cans or bottles in the river! Put your empty containers back in your cools or bags and take them out of the river with you...Mother Nature and your fellow floaters will appreciate it!
    6. Stay alert! We know you want to kick back and relax but it is still important to stay alert and be aware of your surroundings. Conditions can change rapidly and it's important to be prepared for any situation that may arise. It is important to know where you are and where you are supposed to exit the river.
    7. Relax! We've got your covered! If you forget something our camp store is open and carries basics like ice, sunscreen, soft drinks, water, phone pouches and snacks.
    8. Freshen up! We've got restrooms and showers available if you want to bring a change of clothes and clean up before you head home.
    9. Have fun! Most importantly, we want you to have a great time with your friends and family enjoying the outdoors and the beauty of the Brazos River!
